My husband is a Dentist in Bernville, PA. On June 23rd of last year we arrived at our place of business to find out that it had been destroyed by a flood.
The flood was a result of a leaky toilet that the landlord had been advised of during the week end but chose to ignore it. We know this by his owned admission. This had been the 4th flood caused by the negligence of the Landlord yet we had never placed a claim with our insurance coverage of 28 years. The other three floods my husband had taken care of the clean- up.
However, this flood was devastating since it came from above and our ceiling collapsed. The clean-up company hired by the landlord came in and cut out about 6 inches off the bottom of the walls and put fans in. My husband tried to advise the landlord that the entire walls needed to be replaced to no avail. In an effort to force the landlord to make the proper repairs to the dental office space we sent him a letter of our intention not to return to the premises.
We had been tenants of his for 28 years he would not do the bare minimum such as, a certifications to ensure no problem with mold. The Landlord was insistent that the premises were ready for us. As a result of this situation, Liberty Mutual who was the insurer for our loss of income insurance decided to stop paying loss of income benefits. I had many conversations with Paul Barnett the adjuster about this matter.
Mr. Barnett continued to affirm that the Landlord stated that the premises were ready and no more benefit would be paid. I sent him information from the EPA and only code that protects commercial tenants on implied warranty of fitness for particular purpose. We begged the Liberty Mutual adjuster to send set up an inspection since we did not feel that the premises were sanitary for the practice of dentistry.
His response was to re-state that the landlord said the premises were ready. Two pieces of equipment were damaged by the flood which they refused to pay for the repairs on. It is now 2017 and repairing this equipment is not wise since they have been sitting in disrepair this long. We have replacement option on our policy.
The cost of replacing these two pieces is almost $200,000.00. Still no benefits have been released. We have had to start litigation. Of course, we are encountering delays and continuances.
The denial of loss of income benefits, has put us in a very difficult financial situation that we cant seem to come out of no matter how hard we work. I wake up every day filled with anxiety and with shaky hands. I dont even recognize myself anymore. My husband is more quiet and feels embarrassed about our financial situation.
We feel that Liberty Mutual has been malicious in the withholding of benefits and would like to let as many people as possible know about our situation. Every time we see their commercials it kills us.

I cancelled my policy and Liberty Mutual owed me money. They said that the first payment was actually for their expenses and not credited to my account.
I opened an automobile insurance account with Liberty Mutual in 2014. I made my first payment and got insurance.
I cancelled my insurance with them last week and they said there is a balance due since all payments are paid in arrears. As they have explained, the first payment was not a first payment at all. It was not credited to my account. It was just for their expenses.
They refer to it as a downpayment. They said I have a month to pay "their balance" or they will send it to collection.
I switched to another company.
I am now getting better coverage than I had with Liberty Mutual. I am saving approximately $1700 a year.

A Real Nightmare!
We have been having an awful experience dealing with Mr. Michael Lopez - Liberty Mutual - Salem, NH.
It has been literally nothing short of a nightmare. A year ago, we bought over 10 insurance policies through Liberty Mutual office in Salem, NH. One year later, we wrote to Liberty Mutual and informed them that we are not interested in renewing any of the policies. Concurrently, we signed and faxed the cancellation forms and got a fax report confirmation.
Liberty Mutual failed to cancel the policies, and billed the renewal premium to two mortgage companies. The mortgage companies paid the premiums!
We have been trying -for over 6 weeks- to get Liberty Mutual to refund us the premiums to no avail! Liberty Mutual failed to even respond to our request for an update on the status of the refunds.

Hmmm, IS THAT POSSIBLY A SALES GIMMIC WHERE THEY ARE MONITORING PAST WEB SITES THAT I OBSEVED, WHERE AS I WAS ON THEIR SITE A FEW DAYS AGO. THEY HAVE BEEN LOSING CUSTOMERS BY THE THOUSANDS SON I HAVE BEEN TOLD, THEY SCAM YOU COMING AND GOING. LET ME TELL YOU THE CIRCUMSTANCES AND MAYBE ALL OF YOU UNITED STATES FEDERAL & COUNTY TAX PAYING CITIZEN'S SHOULD WONDER WHETHER OR NOT WE WANT SUCH A COMPANY THAT INSURE THE GOVERNMENT AGENCIES.

SO I LATER FIND OUT... AT NO TIME WAS THE MRS. EVER ADVISED TO SEEK AN ATTORNEY FOR HER WELL BEING OR A DOCTOR OUTSIDE OF THE GREEDY INSURANCE COMPANY! I WAS TOLD NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT BY HER, ALL WAS BEING TAKEN CARE OF....
AS WAS WRONGFULLY PORTRAYED TO HER BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY THAT WAS LOOKING OVER THEIR FINANCIAL SAFETY, NOT THE Mrs' WELL BEING!@$ SHE INJURED HER SHOULDER IN THE ACCIDENT, NEVER HAD ANY PHYSICAL PROBLEMS BEFORE IN HER SHOULDER. THEY (LIBERTY MUTUAL) PROVIDED HER WITH A DR. OF THEIR CHOICE. SHE WENT TO THERAPY FOR SOME TIME AND THERE WAS NO PROGRESS.
SHE WAS GIVEN TWO OPTIONS, GET A CORTISONE SHOT IN HER SHOULDER OR HAVE SURGERY, SHE CHOSE THE SHOT. WHEN THERE WAS NO PROGRESS, THE NEXT OPTION WAS SURGERY? ... I DO NOT WANT TO BE LEGALLY WRONG WITH WORDS AND GET SEWED.
IN PLAIN ENGLISH AS WAS PORTRAYED, THE DOCTOR MADE IT CLEAR, HER NEXT CHOICE WAS SURGERY... AT ABOUT THAT TIME, DO NOT QUOTE ME WITH TIME SPAN, THEY SENT HER TO A NEW DR. WHO SAYS SHE HAS ARTHRITIS NOW... NEVER HAD IT BEFORE ANYWHERE, HAS IT NOWHERE ELSE IN HER BODY...
DOES THAT SOUND PECULIAR TO YOU, IT DID TO ME.??? DUE TO THE STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS, WHEN I WAS TOLD THE DETAIL, IT WAS ALMOST THE END OF THE TWO YEARS, THIS IS THE TIME SPAN WHERE A CASE IN COURT MUST BE FILED (Statute of Limitations) WE EXTENDED THAT BY FILLING OUT PAPERWORK THIS WOULD GIVE US TIME TO LOOK FOR A GOOD LAWYER... BECAUSE IT INVOLVES WORKMAN'S COMPENSATION, AMOUNG OTHER THINGS, NO ATTORNEY WOULD TOUCH IT, AS ONE SAID "THE OUTCOME IS NOT ENOUGH PROFIT FOR MY TIME..." IT TURNS OUT THAT THE PAPERWORK THAT SHE WAS TOLD TO FILL OUT BY THE MENTIONED NURSE, MORE OR LESS (of course again I must remind you that this is my opinion because of possible lawsuit) AND THE WAY IT WAS ALL PORTRAYED TO HER ALONG THE WAY WITH THE NEXT STEPS, LIBERTY MUTUAL PUT THE NOOSE AROUND HER NECK!" THEY SAY MONEY CAN DO THAT TO YOU, RIGHT! OF COURSE, I AM TELLING YOU AGAIN THAT THIS IS WHAT WAS CLEARLY OBSERVED BY ME.
A NUMBER OF LAWYERS THAT WE HAVE SPOKEN TO TOLD US THAT LIBERTY MUTUAL'S ATTORNEY IS ONE OF THE BEST IN NORTHERN VIRGINIA AND THEY WOULD NOT WASTE THEIR TIME. THE WAY THAT EVERYTHING WAS DONE, IT WOULD NOT BE WORTH THEIR EFFORT TO REPRESENT THE MRS. IN COURT... THINK ABOUT THE WAY THAT THEY, LIBERT MUTUAL, CONDUCTS BUSINESS...
THE NEXT TIME YOU SEE THEIR COMERCIALS OR ADVERTISEMENTS, THINK ABOUT MY WIFE, HER INJURIES AND HOW THEY TOOK CARE OF HER WELL BEING. WOULD YOU RECOMMEND THEM TO A FRIEND? Way over priced
I switched homeowners insurance companies and found that I was paying almost 1000 dollars a year more than other companies were asking for the same coverage. They did the same to me with auto insurance, they told me they were offering the lowest premium (full coverage), but a few months later I once I switched to another company at half their price, then Liberty Mutual could match it but not before.
I will never insure "anything" with them ever again!
I think they are the most over priced, over-rated insurance company on the market, even Allstate has lower rates and they are one of the higher cost insurance companies around. Stay away from Liberty Mutual.
